UAE Exempts VAT on Hand Sanitizers, Masks and Gloves

The UAE Cabinet announced that hand sanitizers, masks and gloves are exempted from VAT.

Medical equipment used to treat COVID-19 patients, including disposable medical suits, respirators and goggles, will also be exempt from 5% tax.

The decision was made during a cabinet meeting chaired by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The cabinet said it will provide support to the country's health department during the epidemic.

The Minister of Health and Prevention Abdulrahman Al Owais said the move will help the hospital stock up on important medical supplies and supplies.

Earlier before the meeting started, Sheikh Mohammed had a conversation with teachers and students from schools across the country through an online meeting to celebrate the start of the new school year.

He said that the achievements of the UAE since its establishment stem from education.

"Since the establishment of our country, our achievements and progress began in schools. With education, we will continue to move forward into the future."

He also talked about the challenges the school has faced since March.

"Despite various circumstances, we are still unswervingly developing the education system. The last school year is the best proof that our education system has the ability to continuously develop under the most difficult conditions."
